Lord Khieu: too tired to explain, too in love with his cat to care
There are two things you need to know about Lord Khieu. First: he is tired. Not regular-Monday tired. Not stayed-up-too-late tired. A deep, ancient, bone-level tiredness that suggests he may have been exhausted in a previous life and simply carried it over. Second: he has a cat, and he is obsessed with it in a way that raises questions — not legal ones, just personal ones.
Colleagues report that Lord Khieu can typically be found in one of two states: half-asleep at his desk with a coffee that has long gone cold, or showing someone a new photo of his cat on his phone. Often both simultaneously.
"He showed me 34 photos of the cat last Tuesday. I had only asked how his weekend was."
The cat — whose name Lord Khieu will tell you unprompted, at length — has its own dedicated photo album, an apparently beloved spot on Lord Khieu's chest for napping, and what multiple sources describe as "an unreasonable amount of Instagram presence for an animal." Lord Khieu disagrees. Lord Khieu says the cat deserves more.
When reached for comment — after being gently shaken awake — Lord Khieu offered the following statement: "I'm not tired, I'm just... conserving energy." He then closed his eyes for what he called "a second" and did not reopen them for eleven minutes. His cat, reportedly, was also asleep. They looked very peaceful.
Experts are divided on whether Lord Khieu's condition is medical or simply a lifestyle choice that has quietly become an identity. Either way, his cat seems untroubled by it — and if the cat is fine, Lord Khieu maintains, then everyone else should be too.
